Sermon Title: The Anatomy of Sin | Genesis 3:1-13
- Define sin. The Westminster Shorter Catechsim answers the question of "What is sin?" with this answer: "Sin is any want of conformity unto, or transgression of, the law of God." Discuss this defintion.
- What is the response the Lord calls us to have to sin? (Mark 1:15). Talk about what repentance looks like.
- Read Genesis 3:4. What is the serpent accusing God of here? Have you found that sometimes you think of God like this?
- As you read Genesis 3, we are reminded that our hearts will look to something to find life. God has created us in such a way that we simply aren't "enough" for ourselves. Where all do Adam and Eve look for life and satisfaction?
- Where does God provide life and hope for Adam and Eve throughout Genesis 3. What wisdom is Eve looking for?
- Thinking about God's response to sin in our hearts and world: Read Isaiah 53:4-6 and Mark 1:15. How can we live in response to what Jesus has done and said?
